The Conference, recognizing that the definitions of certain
terms used in the International Convention on Tonnage Measurement
of Ships, 1969, such as "length", "breadth", "passenger" and "weathertight",
are identical to those contained in other conventions of which the
Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization is depositary,
recommends that Contracting Governments should take steps to ensure
that identical definitions of terms used in such conventions are interpreted
in a uniform and consistent manner.
