Regulation 18 - Miscellaneous items

 The following new paragraph 9 is added after existing paragraph 8:

  • "9 Where deep-fat cooking equipment is installed, all new installations shall be fitted with:

    • .1 an automatic or manual fixed extinguishing system tested to an appropriate standard;

    • .2 a primary and back up thermostat with an alarm to alert the operator in the event of failure of either thermostat;

    • .3 arrangements for automatically shutting off the electrical power to the deep-fat cooking equipment upon activation of the extinguishing system;

    • .4 an alarm for indicating operation of the extinguishing system in the galley where the equipment is installed; and

    • .5 controls for manual operation of the extinguishing system which are dearly labelled for ready use by the crew."
